However it doesn't really feel like I'm off in 'THE BIG ADVENTURE' quite yet. Picking Charlotte up this morning, then having to leave her at the airport and saying goodbye to mum and dad; I feel more sad and contemplative right now. Also, the guy in the aisle seat told me he only booked his flight this morning and I thought, how exciting, a last minute trip, until he told me it was for sad reasons. It's interesting to think why the 180 odd people in the plane are travelling and where they are going. I saw 3 lads with large backpacks boarding and randomly met a guy from Bath at check in. He heard us talking about Brazilian money and said that was where he was heading too. Poor guy didn't have an onward or return journey booked so they turned him away at least twice. I was happy to se him settling into a seat a few rows ahead of me - disaster averted!
The plane taxi-ing down the runway, taking off and now effortlessly flying over the clouds does somewhat change your perspective though. I couldn't help the excited belly flips! Aisle guy was asking me all about my trip too which has put a smile in my face! 2 and s half hour flight to Rome, 1 hour 45 minute stop over and then Rio at 6.15am tomorrow - bring it on!
